D20 Modern utilizes a class system that allows maximum customization of your characters. All you will really need to do is get a pretty clear concept of WHO your character is gonna be.
The base classes in Modern are:
Strong Hero, Fast Hero, Tough Hero, Smart Hero, Dedicated Hero, Charismatic Hero.
Each base class is built around one of the six ability scores that the characters have. If you are playing a Smart Hero then it would obviously be to your benefit to place a high score in the INTelligence ability.
You will all be creating characters that are on the third level of experience. This puts you just above a rookie, and just below a moderately skilled person. A good level to start at.
Now, like it was with Dungeons & Dragons, every level you have the opportunity to "Multiclass"-- basically change what class you are for your next level. THIS is realy the meat of the d20 MODERN system right here-- think about the character classes as components that need to be combined to create a unique chemical creation, or an element.
h2O - One part Hydrogen, two parts Oxygen
Maxx Power - One part Strong Hero, Two parts Fast Hero.
It's through THIS system that you can truly realize the "concept" of your character into game mechanics.
Now if you are still reading, BE SURE TO READ THIS PART:
This adventure will be utilizing ALL NEW CHARACTERS. No Dave Kellys. No Joe Powells. No Stevenses.
If you want to have a Character like Dave Kelly for example-- Then change the fuckers name! ;
He's a insomniac computer hacker who contemplates suicide more than twice a night, loves his coffee, and lurks in his room... but his name is Darren Lovechannel
Got it? Good!
