Continued from BLITZKREIG - Act II (Last post)
You suspect that you will be getting to know the personnel lift quite well. Though the grated floor, that gives an amazing view to what could be the mouth of hell, is disconcerting-- the construction of the elevator seemed more than sturdy enough to support it's load and travel up and down it's shaft for many months to come.
It begins to slow, and the now familar sound of clamps locking and air being released is heard.
Both set of doors open, the grated floor of the mined hallway extending for several yards ahead (south).

Roanoke strides out of the elevator and into the corridor. He stops only a few feet from the elevator's egress. His eyes seem to gleam with a marked intensity as he scans his surroundings.
He then turns to face his teammates, who are still inside the elevator. The ethereal glow of the floor lights bathes his angular face with a soft luminosity. He inquires, "So, Hollowpoint, I imagine you could eat a seven course meal with an autopsy going on right alongside your dinner table without even flinching?"

Mojo follows Roanoke out of the elevator, poking at his PDA and frowning. "Hmmm ... We're on the lab level, right? I don't seem to have a map ... and Yankowski took off. Anyone know how to get to the, uh, 'morgue'?"

Roanoke removes his backpack and takes from inside it his compass. He reads it as Deke steps out into the corridor, posing his question.
Roanoke acknowledges him and replies, "We are facing due south. If memory serves me correctly, Yankowski said when we reach the end of the elevator hallway there will be another hall that leads west, or to the right. He then said that we would find a concrete block wall some distance down that has a doorway with the words "Medical Unit" enscribed above. And I believe he said that if we didn't know where to go from there that there'd be someone inside who can direct us."
Roanoke closes up his backpack and hoists it onto his back once more. He then puts the compass into his trenchcoat pocket.

"Okay," Mojo sighs, "must'ave missed that." He slips his PDA back into his bag. "Well, let's get moving; I wanna get this over with."

With that, the three agents walk the fifty-five feet to the end of the elevator hallway. Here they find themselves looking into a large open area that stretches at least 50 or so feet to the south, and roughly 90 feet from left to right. The most notable thing in this area is an immense freight elevator.
Along the east and southern walls rows of stacked boxes are placed. Also, on the freight elevator itself sit two more crates as well as a barrel.
There are four tunnels leading away from this room, NOT including the one the three members of Blitzkrieg stand in.
One far south. Another south west. One to the east. And one to the west.
They make their way west, entering that passage and walk approximately 50 more feet before hitting two walls made up of concrete blocks, at right angles to each other. Together the make the a corner to the passage as it turns to the south and extends for as far as the three men can see. Boxes and crates are stacked here and there along the walls.
A metal door with the word's Medical Unit stenciled into them announce that you are indeed at your destination.

"Well... no time like the present." Hollowpoint looks at the door while talking a deep breath. "I've got a seven course meal waiting for me on the other side."
Rick opens, then slides through the door in hopes the rest of the team will follow suit.

Roanoke watches as the doors swallow up Hollowpoint. He turns to Bluemojo and says, "I'm glad all I've got in my stomach is a cheese danish."
With that he proceeds through the doors to join Hollowpoint on the other side.

Upon entering, the three men notice several smells-- none of them like roses. Various chemicals used in the medical profession, as well as over-cooked meat and blood.
A white sheet covers a human-like form on a table in the center of the room. The lighting is somewhat dim around the room, except for a medical light shining brightly down onto the covered form.
The attending Doctor on Duty, Allison Everitt, is leaning against a counter, reading a book, waiting for the I/E group to arrive.
Wearing black framed rectangular glasses, she leans, seeming very intent about the novel in her hands. Her blonde hair long enough to be worn back in a curling bun on the back of her head. Though lacking in make-up at the moment she seems pretty.
She closes her book, and stuffs it into the large front pocket of her white lab coat.
“You’re here. Good. We can get started.” She walks over to the table, and calmly pulls back the white sheet that had been previously covering the form.
Steam & smoke both rise from the extremely charred corpse. It's unlike anything the three men have ever seen or smelled.

Roanoke takes a half step back, the wave of pungent smoke reeling his senses as it wafts towards his nose. He feels mildly queasy, but manages to maintain his composure.
The smoke permeates the air around the exam table with the potent smell of burned human flesh. But to Roanoke's nose, it almost seems that the odor is too powerful to have come from the body alone.
Roanoke turns to Hollowpoint and asks, "Is it just me or does it smell like there's some other odor coming from the body besides just burned flesh? Have you ever encountered a fire victim that gave off this potent a smell? It seems like I'm smelling burned chemicals or something, but... I dunno."

Rick takes deep breath of the rotten air and begins to turn his own shade of green. He puts his hands over his mouth, which quickly fills up with a nasty mix of stomach acid and lingering dinner.
He looks for a trashcan but can't find one; instead he swallows it, quickly following it up with a shot from his flask.
"Sorry about that Doc." Rick is seems a tad embarrassed, especially in light of his background. "Do you have the initial autopsy report, I'd like to give it the once over."

"Sure do."
She hands a file folder containing the initial report and photos that had ben taken just days earlier. The body on the slab doesn't seem to have changed at all in that time.
As Hollowpoint looks through the report, she speaks about the initial examination. Her voice seems very distant as she coldy describes what was in the report-- pointing out various areas on Hadley corpse.
The initial examination, is the obvious. The burns.
Large patches of skin are burned off. Likely 99.99% of his body is burnt. No hair. No ears, just shriveled pink raisins. Eyes, melted in their sockets. Nose, still there, but almost looking a bit shrunk. Lips completely gone, exposing a ghoulish toothed grin.
Large portions of leathery dead skin. Black and olive colored. Swelling in the limbs, stretching and splitting burnt skin. Blisters containing fluid. Everywhere.
Examination of the lungs, shows little sign of soot. Just the standard blackening that any smoker would have.

Roanoke turns to face the Doctor on Duty and replies, "I always hate to see anyone have to put a good book down. Doesn't it always seem that you have to stop just when the story gets most interesting?"
Roanoke pauses to take another look at the body then turns to Hollowpoint and continues, "Do the photos show where the corpse was situated when it was found?"

Doctor Everitt gives Roanoke a weak smile, and nods. It's clear that she just want's to get this over.
"The photos from the scene after the fire was extinguished are enclosed." She confirms.
