Roanoke's gaze takes in the pair of miners whom Halo has just escorted towards the elevator before he turns to gawk at her. It only takes an instant for him to regain his composure. He says flatly, "Suit yourself. It seems your feminine wiles may be better suited for handling a couple of lost puppy dogs than a grisly autopsy, anyway. Please just try to stay sober enough to remember the task at hand."
Roanoke gives the two men a reproachful sidelong glance before lowering his voice to add with a smirk, "Make sure you're collecting information for the team instead of bodily fluids and hickeys, ok? Oh, and I know you're a thief extraordinare, but please, for their sake, don't steal their hearts. They're already at enough of a disadvantage, from the looks of it."
Roanoke now deftly leans up against the nearest wall, with his hands cradling the back of his head, signifying the completion of his admonitions to Halo.

Halo places a hand on her chest and looks to Roanoke with a plantive look of mock hurt. "You accusations wound me Roanoke." A sheepish grin crosses her face. "But not entirely unfounded. Dont worry, I am a professional and I am still on the clock. Having a discussion with Constantine is priority, a strong drink is secondary. . . " Halo walks toward Roanoke and leans toward him, whispering. She stands straight, not waiting for Roanoke's reaction. "Gentlemen. Lead me to your booze." Now facing Morse and Reaver.

Halo, lead by Morse and Reaver, steps into the open elevator. With a wink and a smile she gives Roanoke and Yankowski a mock wave.
Reaver presses the button, and the inner grated doors close shut , followed by the exterier steel doors.
Then the elevator begins it's ascension.
Halo continued in: "Re: HALO (solo #1) « Reply #15 on: Feb, 23, 2004 at 5:44pm »"
====================================== Elsewhere....
"I will catch up to you all later after I go to the fire scene". Crimson remarks to Apollo and Hollowpoint. He then turns, and continues on his path towards the area where the team's trailers are all located.

Roanoke continues to lean against the jagged edge of the rock wall, seemingly unfazed by its harsh surface. After a prolonged moment of silence, he looks Yankowski's way and inquires, "So, Greg, have you had the opportunity to sell your soul to a devilish temptress, yet? Have you tied the proverbial knot, I mean?"

"Huh?" Yankowski sputters, looking over at Roanoke.
"M-me? Married?" He smirks. "Haven't found the right woman yet. You know?"
Yankowski's smile slowly fades off of his face, as he begins to stare off into the darkness, apparently occupied by his own thoughts.
"You?" He asks Roanoke after a few silent moments.

Even as Yankowski and Roanoke are discussing relationships, in that other location, Apollo is answering Hollowpoint.
"No, actually, I'm on my way to the good doctor's trailer," Apollo replies to Hollowpoint. He turns to Crimson," You're headed to the trailer as well? Cool, I'll wait for you."
Apollo quickly checks his messages on the cell, and whips out the PDA to play a quick game of Solitaire.

Roanoke turns to face Yankowski and says levelly, “I don’t have any time for love in my line of work. And I don't have a very high estimation of love, either. All it really is is one person asserting their control over another.”
Roanoke chuckles softly before continuing, "We don't want to be loved, Yankowski, we want to be controlled. Every hopeless romantic out there is a domineering control freak. Their love renders them blind to all else around them. To do such in my line of work would not only be a liability to my teammates, but it could also cost me my life. No, Dr. Yankowski, I have no time to be fettered by such trivialities."

Yankowski gives Roanoke a strange look, before swithing his attention to the incoming sound of footsteps on metal.
Hollowpoint steps into the hall that leads to the elevator.

"Gentleman... I do hope that I am not interrupting things here."
Hollowpoint turns to both Yankowski and Roanoak, all the while his stern expression unchanging.
"I've had a change of heart and I'd like to go and head down to the body if at all possible. Care to join me?" His gaze shifts to Roanoak.
Rick turns his neck to the right a bit, a loud and audible cracking sound is heard. In a way Rick looks relieved.

Roanoke pushes from his leaning position on the rockwall with his right foot and turns to face Hollowpoint. He replies, "Just so you're up to speed, Hollowpoint, Halo won't be joining us at the autopsy. She just left here with two miners to go have a drink and a chat with a Mr. Constantine of Constantine U.E.S. Apparently Mr. Constantine's company has had a working relationship with Nibelung for six years now. She felt it'd be wise to get some information from him."
Roanoke slowly turns his head and nods towards Yankowski, adding, " According to Dr. Yankowski, here, the latest mining equipment used by Constantine U.E.S. was developed in conjunction with Nibelung's Robotics Division and the results are, how did you put it, Dr. Yankowski, 'breathtaking?' "

"Breathtaking huh? You'll have to pardon me Mr. Yankowski for not getting all jazzed up about mining equipment. There is a matter of someone's life being lost here, so..." Hollowpoint trails of looking at ROANOKE (grins)
"So, you just about ready to go and check out that body then? The crime isn't going to solve itself and if it were up to most of the fine folks here, present company excluded" Rick looks over at Yankowski "they would rather brush this right under the rug."

Roanoke flashes Hollowpoint a wry smile and says, "You mean we're actually going to get something accomplished today? I'm impressed. Count me in whenever you're ready. That is, unless you want to wait for Bluemojo. I'd just assume go on without him, myself, seeing as he's fashionably late, as usual."
Roanoke stops for a moment to flex his neck muscles; the skin surrounding his neck stretching taut from his tendrilous sinews. He continues, "There's no use in letting that stiff get any smellier that it is already. Deke can join up with us down there and we can bring him up to speed then."

"W-well, then I won't keep you here any longer if that's your wish." Yankowski states. "However, I was under the impression that at least some of your group would need me to take them to, uh, H-hadley's trailer." His face grows a bit lost looking for a moment as his personal feelings broke through his attempt at professional demeanor.
He looks back at the two Blitzkrieg members, "Um, C-could you tell me who I should be waiting for then?"
====================================== ELSEWHERE, NOT TOO FAR AWAY... ======================================
Apollo grits his teeth in frustration at the lousy hand he had been dealt this game. Even as he taps the reset key, he hears the footfalls of Crimson approaching.

Roanoke looks up from his thoughtful silence towards the overly skiddish Yankowski, somewhat angered by the unique mixture of his squeamishly cacophonous voice. He replies tersely, "I believe you're looking for Crimson and Apollo, Yankowski."

"This God damn solitaire game is rigged," Apollo mutters through gritted teeth. He is just about to throw the PDA against the wall when he notices Crimson approaching. "Oh hey Crimson," he says, embarassed. "Ready to check out the crime scene?" He puts the PDA away and gets ready to go.
